Cream filled donuts, beignets, malasadas, and bombolinis are all variations of the same idea - sweet dough usually with a creme filling, fried to a golden brown. Slightly crunchy, soft, warm and yielding with treasure in the middle. Ooooh what's not to like. The beignets on the left are from Cafe Rouge in Berkeley. The malasadas on the right are from the Home Maid Bakery on Maui (I'll take a dozen!). Someone in the AM Family loves 'um.
